In addition to their regular kids’ programming, there are lots of fun, free events at the TBPL this month. Consider: a mom-themed storytime and card-making (May 3, 10:30am, County Park), author visit (May 4, 10am, Waverley), movie and craft (May 4, 2:30pm, Waverley), bath bombs (May 8, 6:30pm, County Park), and drag queen storytime (May 11, 2:30pm, Waverley).

Free Comic Book Day, various locations

2019 LitFest Reading and Conversation with Deborah Ellis, Thunder Bay Art Gallery
Do you have a kiddo that loves to read or dreams of becoming an author? Award-winning children’s author Deborah Ellis is in town as part of the Northwestern Ontario Writers’ Workshop LitFest. She’ll be discussing her international bestseller The Breadwinner, the story of a girl and her family in Afghanistan. 7-8:30pm, free.

If your littles love to see the city excavators, garbage trucks and more, they can see them up close at this National Public Works Week celebration. There will be kid-friendly activities including face painting and bouncy castles, music, a BBQ and ice cream. 11am-2pm, free, rain or shine.
