February 2-4

Diversity of Living Things, Moose Hall

A 10, 000-square-foot opportunity meet critters like a baby sloth, alligator, tortoise, skunk, vultures, bunnies, hawks and owls in 30 live animal exhibits. Friday 1-8pm, Saturday-Sunday 10am-5pm. Admission fee.

Flashback Film Festival, SilverCity

Gremlins, Back to the Future, The Iron Giant and more, all on the big screen. (Acid wash jeans and hairspray not required.)

February 3

Junior Naturalist Program, Island Drive parkway

Explore the woods in winter! Join leaders from the Thunder Bay Field Naturalists to follow deer trails through the woods to the shore of Superior. 1pm, free.

Family Valentine’s Dance Party, West Arthur Community Centre

Get your Valentine’s on with a family party that features a DJ with a light show, glitter tattoos, crafts, balloons and snacks. 2:30-4:30pm, advance tickets required.

Winter Funday-Snow Painting, Prince Arthur’s Landing

Some snow, some paint and you’ve got yourself a family-friendly party. 2-4pm, free.

Snowshoe Hike at Brule Bay

Bring your snowshoes for a morning hike, hosted by the Thunder Bay Field Naturalist. Snowshoe on Superior’s ice or through the woods (depending on conditions) at Fort William First Nation. View cool ice formations, animal footprints and lichens on rocks, plus visit an open spring. Meet at 9am, free.

February 11

Winter Funday-Thunderwolves Day on the Waterfront, Prince Arthur’s Landing

Come skating with the LU Thunderwolves at the Marina Park outdoor rink! Get some expert tips, then warm up with free hot chocolate and coffee. There will be indoor kids’ activities too. 2-4pm, free.
